Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- Recognised degree in social work with eligibility for practicing membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of general practice, primary health care and Aboriginal health issues within the Australian context.
- Ability to work successfully with both Durri internal team members and external clients to ensure program delivery outputs are met on time using a case management practice framework.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history; and an understanding of social, health and wellbeing issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with clients, carers, and other professionals from diverse cultures.
- Knowledge of the social determinants of health (environment, economic and social inequalities) that have a profound impact on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people,
- Proven team work, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to constructively negotiate outcomes with a diverse range of people and service providers
- High level of written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within tight time schedules and in accordance with variable workload demands.
- Ability to use Microsoft products and the ability to use or willingness to gain proficiency in the Communicare patient information management system.
- Current First Aid Certificate, or ability to obtain.
- Current immunisations or willingness to participate in staff immunisation program including COVID-19 vaccinations.
- Ability to hold all relevant security clearances including National Police Check and Working with Children clearance.
- Current valid driver’s license, minimum of Class “C” or equivalent
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the range of primary health care and specialist health and social services available in the region.
- Demonstrated experience working with people who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
