Clinic Nurse Lead


About the Role?

An exciting opportunity has presented for the right person to join the Walhallow Aboriginal Corporation Health Service Team. Reporting to the Corporate Services Manager, Clinic Nurse Lead provides operational leadership, management and ongoing development of the Walhealth Clinics

  • MBS billing, rostering and day to day nurse management in collaboration with Practice Manager
  • Rostering of clinical nurse staff
  • Clinical incident management
  • Contribution to the Primary Health Clinical Governance Committee

The position holds responsibility for maintaining and growing a skilled and competent nursing and clinical workforce, sustaining a culture and focus on quality and safety, achieving clinical and business KPIs, ensuring service development and improvement in response to client, family and community needs and aspirations.

Day to Day Duties Include:

  • Recruit, onboard, and lead a team of healthcare professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Implement robust processes to maintain high standards of care and patient satisfaction.
  • Cultivate relationships with member services and community partners.
  • Ensure staff – including GP, Nurses, Admin, and potentially others are allocated across the clinic in line with priority.
  • Ensure that efficient procedures for staff management are in place, such as grievance processing, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and monitoring.
  • Maintain effective communication with network Practice Managers across the clinics
  • With the Practice Manager ensure that regular audits, including administrative and clinical audits, are carried out for quality assurance and improvement.
  • With the Practice Manager monitor and track team and service performance, teams should receive regular feedback to see where they are performing well and where they need to make improvements in order to meet goals and enhance performance.
  • Maintain clinical practice by participating in the regional roster to ensure nursing cover in clinics and on the Virtual Care Team.

About You?

  • Experience working in Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander communities and community controlled health services
  • Current RN current AHPRA registration with no restrictions (Division 1 Registered Nurse) or enrolled to complete RN
  • Flexibility to work across various locations and settings
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (NSW)
  • Current Criminal History Check or willing to obtain
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Proficient in using computer software such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email clients
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work harmoniously within a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work, with a positive can-do attitude
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Punctuality and excellent attendance record
