Our People to Live Stronger & Longer

Data Management

Data management in healthcare is the process of collecting, storing, and managing patient data. This data can include a wide range of information, such as medical records, test results, and insurance information. Data management is essential for providing high-quality healthcare, as it allows healthcare providers to access patient information quickly and easily. It also helps to improve patient safety by reducing the risk of errors.

Clinical Information Systems

A Patient information management system (PIMS) is a software application that is used to store, manage, and retrieve patient health information. CIMSs are used by healthcare providers to track patient care, provide preventive care, and manage chronic diseases.

PIMSs can provide a number of benefits for patients, including:

  • Improved access to care: PIMSs can make it easier for patients to access their health information, even when they are not seeing their healthcare provider. This can help patients to better understand their health and to make informed decisions about their care.
  • Increased patient safety: PIMSs can help to reduce the risk of medical errors by providing a single, up-to-date source of patient information. This can help to ensure that patients receive the correct treatment and that they are not prescribed medications that they are allergic to.
  • Enhanced patient satisfaction: PIMSs can help to improve patient satisfaction by making it easier for patients to schedule appointments, communicate with their healthcare providers, and understand their health insurance coverage.

Three major PIMS used among our ACCHS in NSW are,

  • Communicare
  • Medical Director
  • Best Practice

The Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) provides demo versions https://www.digitalhealth.gov.au/healthcare-providers/initiatives-and-programs/my-health-record of clinical software products for healthcare providers to practice using the software. These demo versions are a great way to learn about the features and functionality of the software before making a purchase.

We partner with different external institutes to deliver training for the PIMS. Please contact our Digital Health team to know more about these trainings. We keep our members informed about upcoming training opportunities through email and social media. To stay up-to-date on the latest training offerings, be sure to subscribe to our email list and follow us on social media.
