We are seeking to appoint a Policy Program Co-Designer (Health Priorities) to assist in the formulating and articulating Aboriginal Health policy (Local/State/National) relating to Aboriginal Health Priorities.  Maintain a knowledge base on policy responses and assist in for formulation and articulation of AH&MRC Policy position as it relates to the Aboriginal Community Control Health Sector. 

Responsibilities include:

Government Policy & Programs into Practice

  • Identify inter-relationships to adopt and/or adapt a systems perspectives for the delivery of programs and services relating to Aboriginal people Health Priorities within NSW
  • Identify geographical areas and/or impact on Member Services with high needs as a result of burden of diseases
  • Conduct high level policy research and analysis and proactively contribute to the identification, development, implementation, evaluation and continued improvement of national and state legislative frameworks relating to Aboriginal people health inequities
  • Critically analyse and formulate AH&MRC position on a range of Aboriginal Health reform projects
  • Write and/or review complex reports, briefing notes, submissions and other correspondence
  • Manage and/or coordinate the resources of a work or project team to ensure that business outcomes, performance indicators, project deliverable and deadlines are achieved
  • Under direction from the Manager, Government Policy and Partnerships, provide Board of Directors with relevant information and service delivery advice as appropriate.

Strategic Business Development

  • Undertake direction from the Manager, Government Policy and Partnership and with input from the CEO and Staff
  • Assist with the development of business plans to achieve organisational objective and targets
  • Identify service development opportunity and sources of funds
  • Assist and support the preparation of submissions to obtain additional funding

Collaboration & Capacity Building

  • Collaboratively work across multiple Member Services and government agencies in defining, priorities and coordination plans for improve Aboriginal Health outcomes relating to Implementation Plan for the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Plan 2013-2023
  • Identify practice/service delivery areas in which to support sector capacity building including workforce and practice model developments
  • Participate in relevant reference and work groups, meetings and consultations to remain current to government policy development relating to Aboriginal Health
  • Develop strategies to inform and influence policy debates
  • Actively provide advice for workforce development to address diminished performance within the Aboriginal Health Service Sector
  • Facilitate workshops to gain buy-in across the Healthcare System to gain greater improvement outcomes for Aboriginal people.
